Support content creators promoting Ghana – Culture and tourism expert urges

Culture and tourism curator Frederick Kofi Deladem Dro has called on stakeholders to offer greater support to content creators who use digital platforms to promote Ghana.

As the founder of Ghana is Beautiful, Frederick emphasized the crucial role content creators play in showcasing Ghana’s culture, tourism, and creative industry to the world.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show on February 25, 2025, he highlighted the numerous challenges these creators face, including high data costs, limited monetization opportunities, and a lack of local brand partnerships.

“Content creators are marketing Ghana to the world, yet many struggle to sustain their work due to financial and structural limitations. If we truly want to enhance Ghana’s global image, we need to invest in the people telling our stories,” he stressed.

Frederick pointed out that tourism and cultural content require significant resources, such as travel expenses, equipment, and production costs. However, many creators receive little to no financial support, making it difficult to maintain consistency and high-quality output.

He urged the government, corporate brands, and tourism agencies to collaborate with content creators by offering sponsorships, grants, and advertising partnerships. He also called for policies that would facilitate monetization on international platforms and lower internet costs, which remain a major obstacle.

“We are actively promoting Ghana, and there should be support available to sustain our work. We call on hotels, internet service providers, transport companies, traditional and cultural councils, and the tourism ministry to establish help desks that can provide the necessary support,” he stated.

Additionally, Frederick encouraged digital content creators to unite and advocate for solutions to the challenges facing this fast-growing industry.

“I believe that if content creators come together with a unified voice, we can develop practical solutions to improve our work,” he noted.

Other panelists, Jessica D. Kassah and Mercy Adjorlolo, echoed the call for structured support systems, urging brands to recognize the value of influencer marketing and digital storytelling in shaping Ghana’s global appeal.
