He noted that the commission would begin with reclaiming the core sections of the wetlands and their buffer zones before addressing the broader restoration efforts.

“We must secure those areas so the wetlands can continue delivering essential environmental services—reducing flood risks, supporting aquatic life, and providing a habitat for migratory birds,” he explained.

King Teiko Tsuru II assured the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission that the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) would fully back the commission in tackling all forms of environmental crimes, particularly within the Greater Accra Region.

He emphasized that through the Ga Mantse Environment Fund, the council would drive public education and awareness campaigns on environmental preservation.

According to him, any activity that degraded the environment was anti-developmental and must be addressed swiftly.

The Ga Mantse further praised former President John Dramani Mahama for appointing an indigene of the Greater Accra Region to lead the Forestry Commission and pledged his unwavering support for the commission’s initiatives.
