In October, the group will present three major performances blending traditional African dance, drumming, and storytelling to honor the richness of Black heritage and its lasting impact on global culture.

The shows are scheduled for October 4 and 11 at the Broadwater Farm Community Centre, with a grand finale on October 18 at the Lighthouse Theatre. Each event will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., offering audiences an immersive cultural journey. Tickets are available for £20.

Founded with the mission of preserving and sharing African traditions, Afodat Dance Group has become known for its energetic stage presence, striking costumes, and ability to captivate audiences of all ages. Their performances combine authentic African rhythms with modern elements, showcasing both tradition and innovation.

Black History Month, observed every October in the UK, serves as a moment to reflect on the achievements, challenges, and contributions of Black people across generations. This year’s events aim to entertain, educate, and spark dialogue on the role of cultural heritage in shaping society.

Ahead of the tour, Afodat representatives highlighted the power of art in uniting communities. “Through dance and drumming, we celebrate resilience, identity, and the legacy of our ancestors. Our shows are not just entertainment; they are stories and lessons in history,” the group shared.

Organizers emphasized that the celebrations are designed to strengthen community ties while inspiring younger generations to embrace and safeguard their cultural identity. With live drumming, interactive segments, and captivating performances, the Afodat shows are expected to stand out as a centerpiece of this year’s Black History Month program.
