Announced by the programme’s Co-ordinator, Rex Owusu Marfo, the Blackstar Experience launch 2025 represents the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagship cultural initiative. It is designed to redefine Ghanaian identity, attract investment, boost job creation, and significantly increase tourism traffic, both locally and from the global African diaspora.

President John Dramani Mahama described the programme as a comprehensive, year-round celebration of Ghana’s artistic, cultural, and educational strengths. It will incorporate street carnivals, film showcases, food fairs, fashion festivals, and domestic tourism highlights throughout the year.

Key highlights will include the introduction of “Pan African Month,” with activities such as concert party competitions, drama and theatre performances, and special collaborations with private institutions, diplomatic missions, and relevant ministries.

During the 2025 State of the Nation Address, President Mahama reiterated the government’s commitment to making the Blackstar Experience Ghana’s signature brand for cultural tourism. He emphasized that it aligns with the NDC’s 2024 manifesto goals, positioning Ghana as the ultimate gateway to Africa for the global diaspora.
