Renowned filmmaker Ivan Quashigah has been appointed as the Chairman of the newly inaugurated Board of the National Film Authority (NFA). His appointment was made by the President of Ghana in accordance with the Development and Classification of Film Act (Act 935), positioning him to lead the board in overseeing the regulation, promotion, and development of the country’s film industry.

The official inauguration of the board took place on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Established in 2016 under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the NFA is responsible for classifying films, regulating the film sector, and advocating for the interests of filmmakers in Ghana.
Ivan Quashigah, founder and CEO of Farmhouse Productions, is widely celebrated as one of Ghana’s most influential creative professionals. A graduate of the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), where he studied directing and scriptwriting, Quashigah also holds an Executive Master’s degree in Governance and Leadership from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
His decades-long career includes the production and direction of acclaimed television series such as Things We Do for Love and YOLO (You Only Live Once). YOLO was a standout at the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards, securing seven wins from eight nominations. Over the years, Quashigah has earned more than 18 local and international awards, including recognition at FESPACO for Best Short Feature.
As Chairman, Quashigah will work closely with the Executive Secretary of the NFA to steer the Authority’s mission of elevating industry standards, promoting authentic Ghanaian storytelling, and expanding the global reach of Ghanaian cinema.
