“We Are Coming”: Womba Africa set to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage on upcoming UK tour

Womba Africa Drumming and Dance, a vibrant traditional cultural troupe from Ghana, is gearing up for an exciting tour across the United Kingdom later this year. Renowned for their high-energy performances and masterful use of indigenous instruments, the group brings West African heritage to life through original music, storytelling, and electrifying dance.

The name “Womba,” meaning “We are coming” in the Ga language, perfectly captures the troupe’s mission. True to this spirit, they have earned international acclaim for their immersive showcases that celebrate Ghana’s cultural richness. Their upcoming UK tour, set for September and October 2025, will highlight a variety of cultural activities centered around traditional drumming and dance.

From September 18 to 20, Womba Africa will host a cultural workshop and training program at the Lewsey Community Centre, located at Landrace Road, Luton LU4 0SW. The event will explore the roots and evolution of West African dance styles, showcase traditional Ghanaian attire and instruments, and offer storytelling sessions. Attendees will also enjoy hands-on training in dance techniques and other interactive cultural experiences.

The tour also includes two live concert performances. The first concert is scheduled for September 27 at the Lewsey Community Centre in Luton. The second will take place on October 4 at The Plough, 74 West Street, Farnham GU9 7EH. Both events will begin at 6:00 PM.

Group manager Felix Nii Okai Nummello expressed excitement about the tour, noting the effort going into preparations.

“A lot of preparation is ongoing, and we are surely going to make Africa proud on this tour,” he shared.

Through traditional drumming, vibrant dance, and captivating storytelling, Womba Africa’s UK tour promises to offer audiences a genuine taste of Ghanaian culture. The group aims to inspire cultural appreciation and meaningful exchange through performance and education.
