Wiyaala is no stranger to this stage. She returns to perform alongside top international acts, including Alune Wade from Senegal and Christine Kamau from Kenya. This star-studded lineup highlights the festival’s growing global reach.

Born Noella Wiyaala Nwadei in Wa, Upper West Region, Wiyaala is known as the Lioness of Africa. Her bold voice and commanding stage presence have earned her fans worldwide. She fuses traditional Sissala and Waala melodies with modern Afro-pop and shares powerful, socially conscious lyrics.

Since 2019, Wiyaala has performed with The Yaga Yagas, a Slovenian jazz-fusion group. The band includes Miha Petric (guitar), Nejc Škofic (keyboards), Jošt Lampret (bass), and Žiga Kožar (drums). Their musical partnership began at an Africa Day concert in Ljubljana and has grown into a seamless blend of energy, rhythm, and emotion.

“Working with The Yaga Yagas feels like home,” Wiyaala said. “Their jazz energy matches my African roots, creating something fresh and universal.”

The group’s one-hour set will feature songs from their upcoming album “Segerege”, alongside Wiyaala’s hits like “Rock My Body” and “Village Sex.” The performance promises to be high-energy, emotionally rich, and deeply entertaining.

With the open-air setting at Alliance Française, the atmosphere is perfect for a night of live music and cultural exchange.

Wiyaala is not only a performer. She’s also a passionate advocate for Northern Ghana. She often sings in Sissala, Waala, and English, and uses her platform to support young musicians.

Through initiatives like the Yaga Yaga Talent Show and the Wiyaala Arts Centre in Funsi, she mentors rising artists and promotes her heritage. Her shows often feature guest appearances by local acts such as Isaac Birituro and Stevo Atimbire.

Expect a night of powerful vocals, rhythmic storytelling, and genre-bending music. Wiyaala and The Yaga Yagas will take the stage to celebrate unity through sound. Their set will highlight the strength of collaboration and the beauty of diverse musical roots.
