Tourism Stakeholders Mixer Presents Communique to Tourism Minister

Tourism stakeholders present communique to Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, during a strategic meeting in Accra.

Strengthening public-private partnerships to drive investment and innovation has been identified as a critical priority for the long-term success of Ghana’s tourism sector.

This key insight, among others, was captured in a communique developed during the Tourism Stakeholders Mixer held on February 12 at the Conclave Event Center in Osu. The document, reflecting the collective input of industry players, was formally presented to the Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, at her office in Accra last week.

Upon receiving the communique, Hon. Gomashie acknowledged the need for stronger collaboration in the industry and committed to reviewing the recommendations. She emphasized the importance of unifying efforts across tourism and the creative arts to market Ghana as a Cultural Destination – the core vision behind the Black Star Experience.

Held under the theme “Building the Tourism We Want Together,” the event was organized through a collaboration of leading industry practitioners, including the African Tourism Research Network, Hausa Tours, Bentsifi Tourism, Exotic Adventures, Jannice Digital & Co., and Ellevan Consult.

According to PaJohn Dadson of Bentsifi Tourism, the Mixer created a vital space for dialogue, idea-sharing, and prioritization of key areas such as infrastructure, sustainability, marketing, and workforce development. The communique proposes actions such as fostering responsible tourism, encouraging innovation, and forming inclusive policy frameworks.

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders—from startups to prominent tourism leaders like Mrs. Stella Appenteng, Gideon Asare, Wilma Bruce, Yvonne Ohui MacCarthy, and Prof. Kwaku Boakye—alongside key figures from GTA, GTDC, GHATOF, and the Ghana Hotels Association. The session reaffirmed the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in shaping a thriving and competitive tourism landscape.
