Tourism Ministry refutes claims, calls allegations against Minister ‘deeply misleading’

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has firmly denied allegations circulating on social media that question the professionalism and integrity of sector Minister Dzifa Gomashie.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit, the claims were labeled “completely baseless” and “highly misleading.” The Ministry said these accusations appear to be a deliberate attempt to damage the Minister’s hard-earned reputation.

“These claims, which paint the Minister as disrespectful and unprofessional, are not only false but also a gross misrepresentation,” the statement said. “She has consistently shown humility, dedication, and unwavering commitment to advancing Ghana’s cultural development.”

The Ministry emphasized the Minister’s strong record of open, respectful, and professional engagements with stakeholders, industry players, and the general public.

It also pointed to a “certain social media personality” as the source of the claims. The Ministry accused this individual of promoting misinformation for personal gain and sensationalism.

“We call on the public to stay alert and reject content that values attention over accuracy,” the statement urged. “Such individuals aim to erode public trust for selfish interests.”

Although the allegations gained traction online, the Ministry insisted that “truth will always rise above the noise.” It encouraged the public to continue supporting its mission to promote Ghana’s tourism and cultural identity.

The Ministry demanded an “unqualified apology” for what it described as “deliberate falsehoods” aimed at both the Minister and the institution.

Signed by Head of Public Relations, Delassie Mabel Awuku, the statement ended with a strong reaffirmation of the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, constructive dialogue, and zero tolerance for character defamation.
