Tourism Minister Pays Tribute to Highlife Legend Daddy Lumba

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has expressed her condolences following the passing of Ghanaian music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

In a statement released by the Ministry, Ms. Gomashie described the iconic Highlife artist as “more than a musician; he was a cultural force.”

She praised Daddy Lumba’s remarkable contributions to Ghanaian music, noting that his timeless songs, distinctive melodies, and lyrical brilliance played a significant role in the evolution of Highlife. His artistry, she emphasized, not only elevated the genre but also attracted global attention to Ghana’s rich musical traditions.

“His music inspired generations and became the soundtrack of everyday life for many Ghanaians, both at home and abroad,” the statement noted.

The Minister also acknowledged Daddy Lumba’s role as a cultural ambassador for Ghana. Whether performing locally or on international stages, she said, he consistently projected the spirit of the nation with pride, passion, and excellence.

“His legacy will remain a pillar of Ghana’s cultural and creative landscape,” Ms. Gomashie stated.

With a career spanning over four decades, Daddy Lumba is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest Highlife musicians. His songs continue to resonate deeply with audiences across generations.
