Addressing staff from the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the Museums and Monuments Board, and the National Commission on Culture during a stakeholder meeting, Madam Gomashie emphasized the significance of uncovering the Volta Region’s rich tourism potential.

“This region holds immense diversity in its landscape and cultural offerings. Starting here aligns with our commitment to unlocking Ghana’s full tourism potential,” she stated, adding that the retreat also aimed to align stakeholders with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for the sector and enhance their capacity to fulfil their mandates effectively.

Explaining her choice to begin the tour in the Volta Region, Madam Gomashie said, “In recent discussions, the Volta Region has frequently been highlighted as a treasure trove of topographical diversity and untapped tourism opportunities. This visit is an opportunity for us to explore collaborative ways to harness that potential.”

She also commended renowned tourism vlogger Wode Maya and GTA’s Deputy CEO Mr Abeiku Santana for their efforts in promoting the ‘Visit Volta Region’ campaign and helping it gain momentum.

As part of the tour, the Minister and her delegation will pay a courtesy call on the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, to share their vision and engage in discussions on how best to promote the region’s tourism assets.

The tour will continue across other regions in the coming days, as the Ministry intensifies its campaign to drive tourism development nationwide.
