The Jazz in January Festival makes its grand return to +233

Following a highly successful debut in January 2024, the +233 Jazz Bar & Grill, in collaboration with the Ghana Jazz Foundation, is set to host the Jazz In January Festival once again. The event will run from January 1 to January 5, 2025, featuring an exciting lineup of performers to usher in the new year.

Music lovers can look forward to performances by:

  • Lipstick Queens on January 1,
  • Native Vibe and the West Coast Band on January 2,
  • Nigeria’s Afro4 Band on January 3,
  • Etienne Mbappé and the GHJazz Collective, featuring Godwin Louis (saxophonist) and Simon Moulier (vibraphonist), on January 4,
  • And a Master Jam Session to close the festival on January 5.

Meet the Performers

The Lipstick Queens, a leading Ghanaian band, will kick off the festival with their dynamic performances. Known for lighting up +233 on Wednesday nights, they’re sure to set a vibrant tone for the new year.

Bill Macpherson

Native Vibe, formerly a duo with the late bassist Nee Sackey and guitarist Bill Macpherson, will perform as a tribute to Sackey, showcasing Macpherson’s guitar virtuosity.

The West Coast Band, led by keyboardist Carl Amoah, brings their progressive take on contemporary music, offering a delightful listening experience.

Nigeria’s Afro4 Band—comprising Bright Gain (bass), Wale Adeyemi (drums and vocals), Victor Ademofe (trumpet, flugelhorn, percussion, and vocals), and Luyanda Madope (piano, keyboards, and vocals)—promises a fresh and uniquely African jazz sound as they debut at +233.

On January 4, Etienne Mbappé, the accomplished Cameroonian bassist and singer known for his mastery of Highlife grooves, will take the stage alongside the GHJazz Collective. Grammy-nominated saxophonist Godwin Louis, and world-renowned vibraphonist Simon Moulier, will join Mbappé to deliver an unforgettable performance.

The festival will conclude with a Master Jam Session on January 5, uniting all the featured artists for a grand finale.
