The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Accra came alive on Saturday, October 12, 2024, as diplomats, high-ranking government officials, and cultural icons gathered for a memorable evening of music and celebration.
The night’s main attraction was Senegalese composer and singer Alune Wade, who enchanted the audience with a mesmerizing medley of songs. Known for his prominence in the global jazz and Afrobeats scenes, Wade performed alongside his talented band, creating an atmosphere of unity and excitement that captivated the crowd.
Ghanaian singer Anabel Rose set the stage with a soulful opening act, perfectly complementing Wade’s jazz mastery. Throughout the evening, Wade showcased his versatility, breathing new life into African jazz and reaffirming his status as a global music icon. His dynamic performance had the audience, including Norwegian Ambassador to Ghana Ingrid Mollestad, on their feet. Ambassador Mollestad, visibly impressed, shared her joy with Myjoyonline.com’s Kenneth Awotwe Darko, emphasizing that the event celebrated not only music but also the recent opening of a new Norwegian embassy in Dakar.
“It’s a celebration of togetherness through music, featuring Ghanaian, Senegalese, and French musicians. This cultural connection is one of the key ways that people and nations unite, and that’s exactly what we aimed to achieve tonight,” she explained.
Celebrities such as Stonebwoy, Ria Boss, and renowned visual artist Amoako Boafo were among those enjoying the evening. Attendees expressed their excitement and hope for more such initiatives in the future.
The event was organized by The Royal Norwegian Embassy and the French Embassy in Ghana, highlighting the power of music in fostering unity and strengthening diplomatic relations between nations.
