Since 2008, celebrated playwright Ebo Whyte and his theatre company, Roverman Productions, have consistently brought life to Ghana’s stage with captivating quarterly performances that spark thoughtful conversations on societal issues.
Seventeen years on, Uncle Ebo and the Roverman team are celebrating a significant milestone — their 60th play — with the premiere of The Ex Factor this weekend at the National Theatre.

The Ex Factor dives deep into the complex ways people define their self-worth, exploring themes of love, pride, money, and ambition. For twin brothers Pee and Kay, worth is measured by their wealth — owning mansions and holding over a million dollars each. Viva, on the other hand, finds her value in dignity, while her fiancé, John, believes his worth lies in a lucrative job opportunity.

Then there’s Mr. Adom, who dreams of something far grander — sailing the world on a luxury yacht with Viva, who also happens to be his son’s fiancée. As personal desires collide and values are put to the test, The Ex Factor unfolds into a gripping tale about ambition, loyalty, and the freedom to define one’s own path in life.
This production follows the 2022 milestone of Roverman’s 50th play, He Said, She Said, and adds to a powerful repertoire that includes What Dad Left Behind, Devil’s Wife, Different Shades of Women, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, Life is Someway, The Day Dad Came, Sins of the Fathers, Trials of the Ghanaian, Don’t Mess with a Woman, Everyone Has a Secret, Apartment N1, What’s My Name?, Men Run, Women Cry, and Last Flight.
The Ex Factor will be staged from Friday, April 4 to Sunday, April 6, with encore performances on April 11, 12, and 13.
