Ghanaian model, philanthropist, and advocate Prisca Abah continues to rise as a prominent figure in the fashion industry, breaking new ground on her journey to excellence.
She was recently chosen as one of the standout models for the Big8 Girls Project, an initiative led by Clinton Samuel to honor influential African models.
The project unfolded across three episodes:
- Bio Shoot: A corporate-themed photoshoot that highlighted Abah’s professionalism and approachability.
- Afrodeity: A celebration of her confidence and artistry, embodying the essence of the African divine feminine.
- Royalty: A tribute to African cultural pride, presenting Abah as a symbol of strength and elegance.
The Big8 concept, created by Clinton Samuel, celebrates the most powerful and impactful models on the African continent, recognizing their contributions to the fashion industry and their successes beyond the runway. The initiative crowns eight top female models as the leading figures in Ghana’s fashion and modeling scene.
“Working with these fiery women will surely ignite more creative minds and stir the pot of positive competition,” said Clinton.
Prisca Abah began her modeling career in 2013, achieving her first breakthrough in 2014 with an editorial shoot for 5 Star International Modeling Agency. She made her runway debut at the Ghana Fashion Awards in 2015.
From 2016 to 2018, Abah graced major African fashion events, including Glitz Africa Fashion Week, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Johannesburg, and Rhythms on the Runway. Her exceptional performance earned her the title of “Best Female Model of the Year” during this time. She also represented Ghana as a UN Ambassador for Sustainable Development Goal 12 at the Sustainable Rice Platform Conference.
In 2022, Abah expanded her influence by venturing into pageantry. She secured the first runner-up position at the Beauty of Africa International Pageant and represented Ghana at the Miss Globe World Finals, where she earned the prestigious title of Miss Globe Africa 2022.
Abah is the founder of the Plains Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and youth through education, skills training, and personal development initiatives.
In 2023, she won the Best Model of the Year award at the Time Ghana Arts and Entertainment Awards. She has worked with renowned designers like Charlotte Prive and Ejiro Amos Tafiri, further solidifying her influence in African fashion.
