The journey to salvation differs for each individual, as people encounter unique circumstances leading to their personal transformation. For gospel artist Perez Musik, his shift away from ungodly behavior was triggered by a heartbreak he experienced years ago.
In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, the ‘Blema Tesaa’ singer shared that after indulging in various worldly habits, including smoking, he went through an experience that ultimately changed his life for the better.
“The truth is [that] it started with a heartbreak. Andy, don’t laugh at me. At that point, it was very painful. I’ve never told the story before but I will say it without mentioning names. Somebody in the industry was hitting on my girlfriend back then.
I brought my girlfriend to visit me in the office, when I turned, he took the lady’s number. The next time they were talking. And this was somebody that was my ‘buddy buddy.’ That’s why I don’t really make friends,” he said.
He recounted an incident where he went out with a friend who handed him his phone to make a call. To Perez’s shock, his girlfriend’s display photo appeared on his friend’s phone.
“I opened it and just said ‘yo’. I gave the phone back to him and went home. I didn’t say anything, I just left,” he explained.
Despite the heartbreak, the gospel musician expressed that since becoming born again, he has found immense peace and joy in serving the Lord.
Perez Musik has also achieved significant milestones in the music industry, including winning Songwriter of the Year and Best Male Vocal Performance at the 24th Ghana Music Awards.
