Passport Fees Reduced by Over 25% from November 13, 2025, to Enhance Travel Accessibility

In an effort to make passport acquisition more affordable for citizens, the government has announced a significant reduction in the cost of the ordinary 32-page Ghanaian passport, lowering the price from GH₵500 to GH₵350 — a decrease of more than 25 percent. The new fees will officially take effect on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made the announcement, highlighting the government’s commitment to keeping passport services accessible while maintaining robust security measures.

“The government acknowledges public concerns about the high cost of passports and remains dedicated to ensuring affordability without compromising on security,” Mr. Ablakwa stated. “Under the directive of the President, we are pleased to confirm that the cost of the 32-page ordinary passport will be reduced from GH₵500 to GH₵350 to make the process more accessible to all Ghanaians.”

He further revealed that the Ministry plans to introduce a door-to-door passport delivery service as part of a new 24-hour service initiative, designed to enhance convenience and efficiency for applicants.

This reduction follows widespread public feedback calling for more accessible and streamlined passport services. The move underscores the government’s broader goal of improving travel documentation processes while maintaining strong security and service standards.
