Otumfuo Honours Kofi Kinaata with ‘Youth in Entertainment Award’ at Millennium Excellence Ceremony.
On Friday, May 9, 2025, celebrated Ghanaian musician Kofi Kinaata was honoured by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, with the ‘Youth in Entertainment Award’ during a special edition of the Millennium Excellence Awards held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Renowned for his socially conscious lyrics and thought-provoking music, Kinaata has distinguished himself as a powerful voice in the entertainment industry, using his art to highlight societal issues and inspire positive change. His influence has not gone unnoticed—Otumfuo previously praised Kinaata’s hit song Susuka, calling it “full of wisdom” during the Ghana Bar Association’s General Conference in September 2024.
This prestigious recognition comes just a day before the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, where Kinaata is nominated in several categories including Best Highlife Artiste, Best Highlife Song, Best Music Video, Songwriter of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album/EP of the Year.
The Otumfuo Millennium Excellence Awards, an initiative of the Manhyia Palace, honour individuals who have made significant contributions to national development, particularly those whose work benefits the underprivileged, such as the poor, widows, and orphans.
Other recipients of the Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize at the event included Dr. Osei Kwame Despite (CEO, Despite Group), Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong (CEO, Special Ice Water), and Dr. Nick Danso (CEO, Ghana Link Network Services). The ceremony was graced by former President John Mahama, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.
