Reggae artiste Osagyefo won an award from the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Foundation (MMGF) for empowering African unity and consciousness through music at the Awards Gala on Saturday, August 16.

The event celebrated Marcus Garvey’s legacy and honoured individuals who promote unity, empowerment, and social justice.
Osagyefo, born Dennis Affram, creates socially conscious music that addresses African pride, universal love, and urgent social issues. Moreover, his songs continue to earn international recognition for driving political awakening and inspiring change.
On the night, he stood out as the only musician to receive an award, which highlighted his key role in advancing Pan-Africanism. Naomi Wudasi, Chairperson of the Foundation, presented him with the honour.

During his acceptance speech, Osagyefo expressed gratitude and called the award a source of motivation. Furthermore, he stressed that the recognition shows how his music resonates not only locally but also globally.
Other awardees included Ubalda Mensah, advocate for youth empowerment and girl-child education; Mrs. Worlase Fiagbedzi Afatsiawo of the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce; Vanessa Louise Mixon Alawiye, an art advocate; and Mrs. Jahzara Agyemang, an educator and development consultant.
