Manhyia in Kumasi became the focal point of mourning on Thursday, August 21, as the one-week observation of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, took place.

The solemn ceremony attracted thousands of mourners, including traditional rulers, political leaders, business executives, and foreign diplomats. Among those in attendance were former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia with his wife Samira, as well as Ghana’s current Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, accompanied by ministers, MPs, and other dignitaries.

In line with custom, almost all participants were dressed in black and red mourning attire. The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, sat in state to receive condolences from sympathizers.
Upholding tradition, chiefs, companies, political leaders, and business personalities presented donations in the form of cash, beverages, and other essentials to support the funeral rites.
