OK Frimpong: Artistes who performed at Medikal’s Indigo show covered their own expenses

Ohene Kwame Frimpong, the mastermind behind Medikal’s sold-out concert at the Indigo at the O2, has shared details about the support he received from the artistes who performed. Speaking to Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Frimpong, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Asante Akyem North Constituency, revealed that most of the artistes covered their own expenses for the event.

“Almost all the acts that came to support Medikal took on the financial responsibilities themselves,” he explained. “We only covered certain costs for about two of them, such as hotel accommodations and minor expenses. But for the rest, including Shatta Wale, we didn’t cover any costs for him. He’s the only one I’ll mention, but I won’t go into details about the others.”

Frimpong also mentioned that he did not pay performance fees to any of the artistes.

The concert, which took place in London on May 3, 2024, featured performances from notable artistes such as Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Sister Derby, Jah Bahd, and Efya, among others.

Reflecting on his journey, OK Frimpong mentioned that his first UK event in 2018, which featured Amakye Dede and Kuami Eugene, was not successful due to his inexperience in event planning at the time. However, he noted that he has since experienced success with subsequent events, including Medikal’s London concert.

Ohene Kwame Frimpong, in addition to his work in entertainment, is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and independent parliamentary candidate for the upcoming 2024 elections in the Asante Akyem North constituency.
