In an era where the music industry thrives on singles and viral moments, Ghanaian gospel icon Obaapa Christy has taken a different route, offering not just a track but a complete spiritual encounter.
On July 31, 2025, she unveiled her 15th studio album, Odeneho (The Sovereign One), a project that is already resonating strongly across gospel and mainstream music circles.

A Gospel–Rap Collaboration That Shook Ghana
The biggest highlight of the album launch was the unlikely yet powerful collaboration between Obaapa Christy and rap legend Sarkodie. Their joint track, Odeneho, is being celebrated as a spiritual crossover moment.
“This was more than a feature. It was a testimony,” Sarkodie remarked about the collaboration.
Known for his lyrical sharpness, Sarkodie delivered one of his most emotional verses to date. He admitted the song was not just another studio project, but a “bucket list achievement.”
Obaapa Christy also praised his heartfelt delivery:
“If you saw how Sarkodie sang Odeneho with such emotion, you’d know he truly loves God. I’ve never seen him sing with such passion. God bless him.”
A short teaser of the music video has already gone viral, and the full release is expected soon, promising to be more than just visuals — a true testimony in motion.
Inside Odeneho – A 12-Track Spiritual Journey
The album offers more than music; it’s an uplifting journey of worship, hope, gratitude, and breakthrough.
Some standout tracks include:
- No Weapon – a soul-stirring anthem on resilience, with its official video dropping on September 4, 2025.
- Gyae Su ft. Brother Sammy – a cry for comfort.
- Thank You Jesus ft. Junior (her second son) – a joyful song of gratitude.
- Yesu Mo, Waye Yie Nwom Ni, and Omma Me Nte Nhwe – solo works full of passion and depth.
A Historic Launch at Alisa Hotel
The album launch at Alisa Hotel, Accra, turned into a worship-filled night instead of a regular industry event.
The red carpet was graced by a mix of celebrities, politicians, and spiritual leaders, including Kwabena Kwabena, Dr. Likee, Andy Dosty, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Sammy Awuku, Kwame A Plus, and several pastors who filled the hall with prayer.
The night blended ministry, music, and testimonies, reaffirming Obaapa Christy’s identity as both an artiste and a vessel of God’s work.
Why an Album — and Why Now?
In today’s single-driven industry, Obaapa Christy explained why she still believes in releasing albums:
“God gives me songs in dreams, in worship, in silence, even while driving. I don’t want to serve snacks; I want to offer a full spiritual meal. That’s why I do albums.”
She revealed that many gospel veterans, including Prof. Kofi Abraham, have encouraged her to revive classic songs to keep the spiritual flame alive for future generations.
Prof. Abraham praised her mission, saying:
“She’s not just singing. She’s preserving history. Gospel music is safe in her hands.”
More Than Music — A Ministry of Memory
With Odeneho, Obaapa Christy delivers more than an album. It is a bridge between generations, honouring Ghana’s gospel heritage while shaping its future.
From her early days with Me Te Ase to this 15th album, her mission has remained consistent: to lift souls and draw hearts closer to God.
“This is more than music. It’s ministry. It’s memory. It’s me answering my calling.” – Obaapa Christy
