The National Theatre of Ghana has entered into a strategic partnership with Accra City Hotel through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the link between Ghana’s arts and hospitality industries.

The collaboration seeks to promote Ghanaian culture both locally and internationally by introducing weekly cultural performances at Accra City Hotel, offering guests a vibrant taste of Ghana’s artistic heritage and boosting patronage of the cultural sector.
As part of the agreement, the National Theatre’s three resident companies—the National Drama Company, the National Dance Company, and the National Symphony Orchestra—will deliver a variety of performances reflecting the diverse cultural traditions of Ghana’s regions.
The MoU signing was attended by key executives from both institutions, underlining a shared commitment to using creative arts as a tool for enhancing Ghana’s tourism and hospitality appeal.

Mr. Henry Herbert Malm, Acting Executive Director of the National Theatre, described the partnership as a significant step toward “spreading our culture.” He emphasized that guests would enjoy immersive experiences through traditional music, drama, and symphonic presentations curated to entertain and educate.
“Many guests may not step out at night, so bringing culture to them in-house is a brilliant solution,” Malm noted. “Arts and hospitality are naturally connected, and this collaboration can attract more tourists to Ghana.”
He also extended an open invitation to other institutions to collaborate with the National Theatre in advancing its mission of promoting Ghanaian culture and the creative arts.
Mr. Divine Matey, General Manager of Accra City Hotel, expressed excitement about the long-term nature of the partnership. He praised the National Theatre’s ability to engage audiences and deliver dynamic performances tailored to different tastes.
“We see this as a long-term relationship. The National Theatre brings creativity and cultural depth that our guests will truly enjoy,” he said.
This partnership is expected to create a unique in-house entertainment experience for hotel guests while reinforcing the role of the arts in tourism and national development.
