The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is set to host a groundbreaking event as part of its Women Empowerment Series (MUWES). Slated for Wednesday, December 18, 2024, this initiative aims to be a pivotal moment in uplifting women in the music industry, centered on the theme, “Positioning Women in Music for Growth in the Digital Age.”
Abena Ruthy, MUSIGA’s 2nd Vice President and head of the women’s desk, shared her enthusiasm for the event, which will take place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Accra Tourist Information Center (ATC). The program will convene industry experts, veterans, and emerging talents to explore opportunities in the digital era and empower women to excel in this dynamic landscape.
The event features a stellar lineup of speakers, including:
- Madam Korkor Amarteifio, a celebrated producer, arts consultant, and cultural advocate, who will serve as the Guest of Honour, bringing her wealth of experience in the creative and cultural sectors.
- Mr. Abraham Adjetey, former CEO of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) and an expert in copyright law, who will offer critical insights into managing intellectual property in today’s digital music ecosystem.
The MUWES initiative is designed to close the gender gap in the music industry by fostering knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and access to opportunities. With the rise of digital technologies, the event will emphasize strategies for women to harness digital platforms, protect their intellectual property, and build sustainable careers.
In line with MUSIGA’s dedication to inclusivity and progress, this event is open to all women in music and creative industries, as well as stakeholders committed to advancing women’s roles in the digital economy.
Mark your calendars and join this inspiring dialogue. Together, let’s shape the future of music by empowering women to thrive in the digital age.
