A delegation from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), accompanied by representatives of the families of the late music legends Teddy Osei and Naa Amanua, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie.

The meeting was attended by MUSIGA executives and renowned musician Divine Drummer Okyerema Asante.
The purpose of the visit was to formally inform the Minister about the upcoming funeral rites for Teddy Osei and Naa Amanua, two legendary figures in Ghana’s music industry. Teddy Osei, a co-founder of the influential Afro-rock group Osibisa, and Naa Amanua, a highly respected traditional musician, have both made a lasting impact on Ghanaian music and culture.
During the meeting, the delegation provided details on the planned ceremonies and cultural events that will honor their legacies. They emphasized the significance of these events in celebrating Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and recognizing the immense contributions of the two icons to the nation’s music scene.
Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie extended her condolences to the families and acknowledged the invaluable role Teddy Osei and Naa Amanua played in shaping Ghana’s cultural landscape. She assured the delegation of the Ministry’s support for the funeral rites, highlighting their importance in promoting cultural tourism and showcasing Ghanaian music on the global stage.

Additionally, the Minister reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to fostering a vibrant cultural sector that preserves the legacy of Ghana’s musical pioneers while advancing the country’s creative arts industry.
MUSIGA President Bessa Simons congratulated the Minister on her appointment and expressed gratitude on behalf of the families for the warm reception.
