The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) held its 3rd Biennial Conference in Accra, bringing together national executives from across the country to discuss the future of Ghana’s music industry.
The opening ceremony took place on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Bethel Heights Hotel in Madina under the theme: “Positioning MUSIGA for Growth in a Digital Era.”

This year’s conference focused on three key areas: strategic development, innovation, and the digital transformation of the music industry. It provided the National Executive Council an opportunity to address challenges, share ideas, and plan for the sector’s growth. Organisers emphasized the importance of media coverage to keep the public informed about the industry’s progress.
In his opening address, MUSIGA President Bessa Simons welcomed attendees and thanked executives and stakeholders for their continued support.
“MUSIGA has made great strides, and as we celebrate 50 years, it is vital to strengthen our foundation. Our vision is to help every Ghanaian thrive through music. To achieve this, our national executives across all regions must collaborate and share knowledge,” he said.
He stressed the need for musicians to embrace technology, which is shaping the global music landscape, and encouraged artists to participate in pension schemes to secure their future.

Bessa also highlighted efforts to empower the next generation of musicians by connecting them with experienced mentors who will guide, support, and inspire them. He noted that each musician would have the opportunity to contribute creative ideas, fostering innovation and growth.
He announced that MUSIGA would host the Musical Honours next year, an award scheme recognizing musicians who have made significant contributions to the industry. Additionally, the union would celebrate women in music through SheRhythmz, an all-female music festival happening the following week. The festival, open to all and free of charge, provides a platform for both young and established female artists to perform, learn, and grow.
Bessa further revealed plans to revive a gathering of industry leaders aimed at raising funds for ageing musicians. He reaffirmed MUSIGA’s commitment to innovation, culture, and creative excellence as the union celebrates 15 years of musical growth.
He concluded by praising past MUSIGA presidents for laying a strong foundation and called for unity and dedication to build a more innovative, competitive, and sustainable music industry.
