Ghana Tourism Authority Applauds Organizers at MICE Ghana Launch

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has applauded the efforts of the Street of Gold Foundation and MICE Africa for their dedication to promoting tourism and celebrating national heroes.

Delivering the commendation on behalf of GTA CEO Mamaa Fua Owajeto and Tema Regional Director Mr. Isaac Esiam, GTA Deputy Director Gifty Ofeibea Koranteng Senanu praised the organizers’ decade-long consistency during her keynote address at the official launch of MICE Ghana.

“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Street of Gold Foundation and MICE Africa for their consistency,” Senanu noted. “I believe this is the tenth year, and they deserve applause for their commitment to organizing the Heroes Awards and Miss MICE Africa.”

She stressed that the event goes beyond ceremony, serving as a platform to honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of national heroes while inspiring future generations. Senanu also highlighted the impact of the Miss MICE Global pageant, which empowers women by providing opportunities to showcase their talents and excel in their fields.

MICE Tourism as an Economic Driver

Tourism expert Emmanuel Frimpong, Executive Director of Inter Tourism Expo and President of the Africa Tourism Research Network, underscored the vast economic potential of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism in Ghana.

Calling it a “massive gold mine,” Frimpong explained that MICE tourism could transform Ghana’s economy by creating jobs and attracting high-net-worth visitors. He lamented that while other countries successfully leverage this sector, Ghana risks falling behind.

“If Ghana could secure just 10% of 200 international events a U.S.-based company tried to bring to West Africa, it would change lives,” he said. Frimpong added that MICE tourism is linked to various industries, including medical tourism, gastronomy, culture, and sports, making it a powerful tool for economic growth.

He also acknowledged the contributions of leaders like GTA Greater Accra Regional Director Gifty Kwafoa, while urging stronger collaboration among government, agencies, and the private sector. “We have so much to offer—from our traditions and attire like kente and fugu, to our hospitality. These are intangible assets the world values,” he stressed.

MICE Expo Africa 2025

Royal Pamford, founder of the Street of Gold Foundation, announced that the MICE Expo Africa will be held from September 25–27, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The expo aims to raise awareness and boost participation in MICE activities across West Africa. “Our goal is to educate the region on the vast potential of MICE,” Pamford said. “It’s an international event open to the public and participants from neighboring countries.”

To ensure inclusivity, the event will feature segments such as Kids in MICE, Youth in MICE, and Women in MICE. Pamford emphasized that the initiative is designed to unlock the industry’s economic benefits for the entire region.
