Renowned Ghanaian playwright and project management expert, Latif Batalima Abubakar, PMP, has been named Best Project Management Professional at the inaugural Sky Africa Awards, held at the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The recognition was largely attributed to Abubakar’s innovative “Single Simple Practical (SSP) Approach to Managing Projects,” which accelerates delivery timelines while enhancing risk governance. The SSP approach has been adopted by major organisations such as AirtelTigo and ActionAid, and has trained over 4,500 professionals in project, risk, and procurement management.

The Sky Africa Awards spotlight African excellence across design, arts, and innovation. The 2025 edition, chaired by former President of Ecuador Rosalía Arteaga, gathered top government officials, creatives, financiers, and ministers from across the continent.

Abubakar, also the founder of Globe Management Institute, Globe Productions Ltd, and The African Festival—Africa’s largest cultural night—was recognised for his ability to build ecosystems that outlast individual projects. His work on “Ghana Must Go,” a theatre-led investment and tourism initiative touring 10 countries, was highlighted as a shining example of converting creative content into foreign direct investment.

Through Globe Productions, Abubakar generates over 1,000 temporary jobs annually across sectors like acting, logistics, media, and small business supply chains—an achievement unmatched by other nominees.

In presenting the award, President Arteaga applauded Abubakar’s success in merging cultural creativity with project science, stating:

“Latif’s work proves that rigorous project management and impactful storytelling can coexist—and when they do, economies grow.”

Cameroon’s President Paul Biya praised Abubakar in a statement, calling him “a Pan-African ambassador whose projects build bridges across borders.”

Accepting the award, Abubakar credited his teams at Globe and reaffirmed his mission to leverage project management as a tool for sustainable development. He announced plans to take “Ghana Must Go” on a global tour from August 2025 to August 2026, calling on development agencies, brands, and governments to support this initiative.

Abubakar is a certified PMP and holds an Executive MBA from the Swiss Business School. He has authored Facts to Remember: PMP Exams Prep, and serves on advisory boards including the American Academy of Project Managers and the Spain Ghana Chamber of Commerce.

With over 20 socially impactful stage plays under his belt—reaching over 1 million live viewers and 3.5 million virtual viewers—Latif Abubakar continues to shape Africa’s creative and development landscapes through project excellence and storytelling.
