Ghanaian music star Kwabena Kwabena is taking his timeless hit “Aso” global, marking 20 years since the song first captured the hearts of fans.
He made the official announcement during the launch of “Aso @ 20” at Croks Lounge in Osu, Accra, on Friday, July 18. The global tour will span Africa, Europe, North America, and Australia, celebrating two decades of musical excellence.
The event also kicks off a year-long tribute to Kwabena Kwabena’s impactful career. Known for his soulful voice and distinct musical style, the artist has become a household name in Ghana and beyond.
Speaking at the launch, Kwabena Kwabena expressed gratitude to fans:
“It’s an honour to see ‘Aso,’ now 20 years old, still resonating with audiences. I’m overwhelmed and grateful for the continued love and support.”
Originally released in 2004, “Aso” was part of his debut album, which also featured hits like “Kyere Me” and “Trodom.” The album shot him into the spotlight and earned him a reputation for authentic storytelling through music.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, a remix of “Aso” will be released. It will feature collaborations with some of Ghana’s top and emerging artistes. During the tour, fans can look forward to exciting performances, including new renditions of his classics.
Beyond music, Kwabena Kwabena has shown strong commitment to philanthropy. Through his Save a Life Foundation, he supports health and wellness initiatives across Ghana.
His contributions have earned him multiple awards, including Best Vocal Performance and Best Songwriter.
The launch event drew several notable figures in the creative industry. Personalities such as Fred Kyei Mensah (Fredyma), Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Silva Lady, Harglah, Papa Bills, Sally Mann, Kwesi Ernest, AJ Poundz, Lexis Bill, Praye Tietia, and Epixode were all in attendance. Celebrated broadcaster Andy Dosty emceed the night, which featured a short performance from Kwabena Kwabena, Praye Tietia, and Epixode.
With the “Aso @ 20” tour, Kwabena Kwabena is not only celebrating a career milestone but also cementing his legacy in the global music space.
