Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and producer Kuami Eugene has shared his admiration for some of Ghana’s most beloved actors and actresses, while also voicing concern about the limited presence of Ghanaian films on global streaming platforms.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz show with hosts Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, the Monica hitmaker revealed, “I actually watch Ghanaian movies. The only issue is that there aren’t many on Netflix or other streaming platforms. Most are shown in cinemas, and it’s quite difficult for me to go there. But I love Ghanaian movies.”
Kuami Eugene listed Agya Koo, Santo, Lilwin, Kwaku Manu, Dr. Likee, and Akrobeto as his favourite male actors. On the female side, he mentioned Nana Ama McBrown and Vivian Jill Lawrence.
His remarks underscore a broader issue in Ghana’s film and entertainment industry. Despite the strong support local films receive in cinemas and on traditional television, their limited availability on international platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Showmax restricts global exposure.
Industry players have long called for increased investment, stronger marketing strategies, and enhanced digital distribution to ensure Ghanaian films can reach wider audiences and compete internationally.
