GTA’s Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi Recognized for Outstanding Contribution to the 2025 Accra Arts and Crafts Market

Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), was honoured on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan-African Culture in Cantonments for his remarkable contribution to the International Edition of the 2025 Accra Arts and Crafts Market.

The recognition was presented by the management of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market, led by Manager Adnan Mohammed and Deputy Manager Wango Abdul Karimu, during a grand gala and awards night marking the close of a 10-day exhibition held from October 17 to 26, 2025. Mr. Kusi received a citation in acknowledgement of his instrumental role in enhancing the event’s visibility through effective marketing, strategic communication, and public relations efforts, as well as his support in building key partnerships.

Mr. Kusi’s career reflects a balance of academic achievement, professional expertise, and commitment to national progress. An alumnus of Prempeh College, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Ghana, Legon; a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (now UNIMAC–GIJ) in 2020; and an MBA in Marketing from Methodist University College Ghana in 2022. He also holds a Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

With over a decade of service in Ghana’s tourism industry, Mr. Kusi has played a vital role in promoting the country’s tourism and cultural initiatives. From 2010 to 2014, he served as Secretary to the Board of Directors of the Ghana Tourism Authority. He later worked as Special Assistant to the late CEO, Mr. Charles Osei Bonsu, from 2014 to 2017. Appointed Principal Corporate Affairs Officer in 2019, he was promoted to Deputy Director, Domestic Marketing, in early 2024, and further advanced to Deputy Director in charge of Corporate Affairs in February 2025.

Recognized for his strong Pan-African vision and patriotic commitment, Mr. Kusi has been actively involved in several national tourism committees and initiatives, contributing to the growth and global promotion of Ghana’s tourism sector.

The international edition of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market, which ran for ten days, aimed to promote Ghanaian creativity and support small and medium-scale entrepreneurs in expanding their reach across Africa and beyond. Although the market has been held for eight years, the international edition was introduced just last year, featuring participants from Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Niger.

The event celebrated African culture, innovation, and craftsmanship, gathering artisans, designers, and creatives to exhibit a rich collection of handmade fashion items, artworks, crafts, home décor, and culinary delights. Serving as a cultural hub, the Accra Arts and Crafts Market continues to connect artisans with diverse audiences while preserving Ghana’s creative heritage.

This year’s edition attracted locals, tourists, diplomats, and members of the diaspora, who explored and purchased authentic African-made goods, enjoyed live performances, and engaged in cultural exchanges. Held under the theme “From Local Hands to the Global Stage,” the fair invited patrons to “Experience the Magic of Africa through Art, Fashion, Food, and More.”
