The Deputy High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Ghana, Mr. Keith McMahon, has paid a visit to the family of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, to extend his condolences on behalf of Britain and the international community.

During the visit, Mr. McMahon described Daddy Lumba as a cultural pop icon whose influence transcended Ghana’s borders. He emphasized the global impact of the artist’s work, noting that his legacy continues to resonate with audiences around the world.
In a touching revelation, Mr. McMahon shared that King Charles III, the British monarch, is an admirer of Daddy Lumba’s music and even has one of his songs saved among his favourites on his personal iPhone playlist.

“As many of you may know, King Charles — my King — is a big fan of Daddy Lumba,” he stated. “He mentioned just recently that on his iPhone playlist, one of his favourite artists is Daddy Lumba. I believe this truly reflects the breadth and reach of Daddy Lumba’s influence worldwide.”
He added, “It was important for me to come here today and share that with the family — to remind them that although he is no longer with us, his impact will endure for generations. God bless Daddy Lumba.”
Mr. McMahon’s visit adds to the growing list of dignitaries who have paid tribute to the late music icon. Other prominent figures who have visited the family include former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
