For her performance in the film “Red Carpet,” renowned Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah was nominated for best actress in a leading role.
Girley Jazama, Oyin Oladejo, Unati Faku, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Laura Pepple, and Ife Irele are Jackie’s rivals.
On Wednesday, October 2, the nomination list was revealed at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja. Mr. Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, the AFA board representative, Mr. Tony Anih, the Chief Operating Officer of AMAA, and Mr. Kingsley James, the producer of AMAA’s gala night, were present, along with members of the jury and screener college.
In collaboration with Lagos State, the 20th AMAA edition has as its theme “Celebrating African Creativity.”
The schedule of events for the 20th edition of the film and movie awards ceremony was disclosed by Anyiam-Osigwe.
Some of the activities scheduled for the 20th edition of AMAA include the launch of the AMAA coffee book on October 25, the AMAA Africa night of legends on November 1, AMAA meets Nollywood, AMAA Africa fashion show and exhibition and the AMAA gala night scheduled for November 2 at the Balmoral Convention Centre, inside Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
Anyiam-Osigwe emphasised that in addition to honouring excellence in Africa’s creative sector, the 2024 AMAA will redefine the continental awards and set the course for the future.
