While the nation celebrated the occasion, with international observers praising Ghana as a beacon of hope for Africa’s democracy, one aspect of the inauguration at the Black Star Square in Accra stood out prominently—the President’s attire.

After taking his oath of office, administered by Chief Justice Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Esaaba Torkornoo, images of President Mahama confidently holding the state sword began circulating on social media. However, the conversations weren’t just about the historic moment—they also centered on his striking outfit adorned with intricate Adinkra symbols.

Since the event, attention has turned to Matthew Agambire, the creative mind behind the outfit and the creative director of Bondaana Clothing. Known for his innovative designs, Matthew has established Bondaana as a luxury fashion label admired by influential figures, including presidents, both within Ghana and internationally.

Matthew’s journey into the fashion industry is marked by rapid growth and creativity. He began his entrepreneurial career during his undergraduate studies at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he specialized in sales and marketing, focusing on electronics from 2009 to 2014.

After graduating, he worked with multinational companies such as BOSCH, where he developed business strategies for the automotive aftermarket, and later with PORTWEST, serving as the Country Manager for Ghana. During this time, he also nurtured his passion for fashion, gradually transitioning to fully focus on Bondaana Group, with Bondaana Clothing as its flagship brand.

Beyond his business ventures, Matthew is committed to philanthropy, supporting charitable causes, and contributing to initiatives such as youth football academies to promote sports development in Ghana. His reputation for strong networking and interpersonal skills has been instrumental in his success.

In addition to styling President Mahama, Matthew has dressed several high-profile figures, including Gabby Asare Okyere Darko, Mustapha Hamid, Sammy Gyamfi, Bola Ray, and others. Last year, his achievements earned him a nomination for Ghana’s “40 Under 40” awards.

President Mahama’s inauguration outfit not only celebrated tradition through its Adinkra symbols but also showcased Matthew Agambire’s craftsmanship, further solidifying his place as one of Ghana’s leading fashion designers.
