Volta Regional Minister Pledges Support for MUSIGA to Boost Culture and Tourism

Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has pledged the full support of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) in efforts to advance cultural and tourism development in the region.

Mr. Gunu made the promise during a courtesy call on Monday, July 21, by MUSIGA’s Volta Regional Chairman, Anthony Dagbey, and other members of the union. The visit was to brief the minister on the union’s upcoming album launch, which aims to raise funds for the purchase of new musical instruments.

Mr. Dagbey explained that acquiring new instruments would empower the union to stage public performances across the region, generating additional funds to support local development projects.

“Beyond that, we plan to train young people in the use of these instruments to enhance the quality of our public shows,” he added.

The album launch is scheduled to take place in Ho on September 21, which also coincides with the minister’s birthday. Following the launch, the union plans to embark on a regional performance tour. The tour will showcase a variety of traditional music and dance styles, including Borborbor, Akpese, Akpi, Zigi, Agbadza, and other cultural expressions.

Mr. Gunu assured the union of his commitment to providing the necessary resources and support to make the fundraising efforts a success. He also pledged to help raise awareness and encourage public participation in the musical events.

“Music is a vital part of our cultural identity. We must preserve and promote it with passion and dedication,” he emphasized.
