Highlife musician Dada KD has passed away

Ghanaian highlife legend, Dada Kwaku Dua, widely known in the music industry as Dada KD, has sadly been reported dead.

According to the manager, Dada KD fell ill on Friday, May 16, 2025. He became unresponsive and was unable to speak, prompting an urgent rush to the Gbawe SDA Hospital for medical attention. Despite efforts by medical personnel, the celebrated musician passed away later that same evening.

At the time of his passing, Dada KD was actively preparing for a major performance scheduled to take place in London on May 25, 2025. The upcoming show was expected to be one of the highlights of his recent musical engagements.

Dada KD was revered for his smooth vocals and deep lyrical compositions, which contributed significantly to Ghana’s highlife music genre. He gained widespread acclaim for classic songs such as ‘Odo Mu Anigye’, ‘Ene Me Nye’, ‘Yebeye Yen Ho Fi’, ‘So Mu Gye’, and ‘Obiaa Se Eye’, among others. His music resonated with many, often reflecting themes of love, unity, and cultural pride.

His passing marks a great loss to the Ghanaian music industry and fans across the globe who cherished his timeless contributions to highlife music.
