Ghanaian Creativity Shines at Africa Creative Market 2025 in Lagos

Ghana’s creative industry took center stage at the Africa Creative Market 2025, held at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, Nigeria, with an impressive showcase of fashion, innovation, and collaboration. Through a strategic partnership between Fashion Evo and Fashion Connect Africa (FCA), Ghanaian designers — House of Paon, Afia Achiaa, KatieO, and Kojo Boadi — captivated audiences at the Fashion Evo Fashion Show and Awards Night, further cementing Ghana’s influence on the African fashion scene.

Speaking from the FCA booth, Victoria Michaels — Chief Inspiration Officer of Fashion Connect Africa, modelpreneur, and EU Goodwill Ambassador in Ghana — described the partnership as a milestone for Ghana’s creative community.

“What excites me most is that we were able to bring Ghanaian creatives like House of Paon, Afia Achiaa, Kojo Boadi, and KatieO to this platform. They were incredible and did not disappoint. This outing proves Ghana has so much talent to offer Africa and the world,” she said.

She also highlighted the “Seed to Stage” initiative, an FCA project designed to give overlooked street tailors and emerging designers global exposure. Through this platform, Nikita Clothing (Ghana) and Joelle (Liberia) won fully sponsored opportunities to showcase in Lagos — an achievement both brands described as life-changing.

Ghanaian Designers Take the Spotlight

For many Ghanaian designers, the experience was both inspiring and transformative.

  • Collins Obeng-Marnu of House of Paon, showcasing in Lagos for the first time, reflected: “Being on these platforms builds stronger connections. Social media brings us closer, but meeting in person makes it real. I’m grateful for this opportunity.”
  • Michael Akotu Addo, creative director of Afia Achiaa, unveiled a ready-to-wear collection celebrating modern African women, alongside his couture line Quophi Akotuah. He noted: “This event has been a great opener for Ghanaian brands like us. We’ve built valuable contacts and met potential clients.”
  • Gloria Arachi of Nikita Clothing, a Seed to Stage winner, expressed heartfelt gratitude: “I never imagined I would make it to such a runway. This opportunity has changed everything for me.”

Ghanaian model Michael Matthew, who walked the runway, described the showcase as one of the most professional and creative he has ever experienced.

Creativity Beyond Fashion

Ghana’s impact extended beyond fashion design. Christele Codo, founder of Afro Ele Hair Artistry, showcased innovative natural hair styling in her first appearance in Nigeria. She remarked: “Nigeria is truly a circle of creativity. I’ve learned so much here, and I’m excited for future collaborations.”

Ghana on a Continental Stage

The Africa Creative Market continues to serve as a hub for cross-border collaboration, networking, and business opportunities across the creative economy. With platforms like Fashion Evo and the commitment of initiatives such as Fashion Connect Africa, Ghanaian designers are not only leaving their mark but also shaping the future of African fashion.
