The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) has rolled out two innovative web platforms designed to modernize the tourism industry. The Ghana Tourism Market Place (GTMP) and the Ghana Tourism Investment Platform (GTiP) aim to connect service providers with travelers while attracting vital investment into the sector.
By introducing these platforms, GTDC seeks to showcase Ghana’s rich tourism resources, increase global visibility, and drive sustainable development.

Ghana Tourism Market Place (GTMP): Connecting Tourists and Businesses
The GTMP acts as a one-stop hub for travelers. Tourists can book hotels, arrange guided tours, rent vehicles, visit museums, enjoy local dining, or purchase artwork—all in one digital space.
Service providers, including hotels and tour operators, can market their services directly. The platform supports secure bookings and instant payouts, creating a smooth experience for both businesses and customers.
GTMP aims to bridge Ghana’s tourism potential with the global market. It offers easy access to authentic local experiences, attracts international visitors, and helps boost revenue for communities across the country.
Ghana Tourism Investment Platform (GTiP): Opening Doors for Investors
While GTMP focuses on travelers, the GTiP platform targets investors. It enables local authorities, businesses, and district assemblies to profile potential tourist sites for development.
The platform provides essential details such as infrastructure, distance from major towns, and topography. This transparency gives investors the data they need to make informed decisions about funding new attractions, upgrading infrastructure, or expanding existing facilities.
With GTiP, Ghana positions itself as an investment-ready destination for both domestic and international partners in tourism development.
Driving Regional Growth and Healthy Competition
According to GTDC Chief Executive Officer Professor Kobby Mensah, the new platforms are designed to empower rather than compete with the private sector.
He explained that they will boost regional competition, expand opportunities for local businesses, and ensure tourism benefits reach every part of the country. By giving entrepreneurs digital tools to reach global customers, the GTDC hopes to accelerate growth within the industry.
Stakeholders Back the Initiative
The demo launch of the platforms in Accra drew strong support from key industry players, including the Ghana Hotels Association (GHA), the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF), and local tour operators.
GHATOF President Charles Adu-Gyamfi described the initiative as a strategic move to position Ghana as a leading tourism destination. He emphasized the importance of digital platforms in attracting investment and creating new business opportunities.
GHA President Edward Ackah Nyameke highlighted the benefits for hospitality operators. He noted that GTMP would give hotels more visibility, attract new customers, and improve revenue streams.
Official Launch Coming Soon
Professor Mensah confirmed that the platforms will officially go live within the next two to three weeks. Stakeholder feedback will be incorporated to ensure the tools serve both service providers and tourists effectively.
Technology Driving Ghana’s Tourism Future
Tourism worldwide is shifting toward digital platforms. Ghana’s adoption of GTMP and GTiP ensures the country remains competitive in this changing market.
The platforms will improve accessibility for tourists, attract more investment, and create a more sustainable and inclusive tourism ecosystem. By merging technology with strategy, Ghana is taking decisive steps to strengthen its tourism industry.
A New Chapter for Ghana’s Tourism
The launch of GTMP and GTiP represents a turning point. These platforms give local businesses the tools to grow, attract international investors, and expand Ghana’s global tourism footprint.
As the country embraces digital solutions, it sets the foundation for sustainable growth and positions itself as one of Africa’s leading travel destinations.
