Ghana Theatre Festival 2025 Launched in Accra

The Ghana Theatre Festival 2025 was officially launched on Wednesday, September 10, at the National Theatre in Accra.

The festival will run from September 23 to 28 under the theme “Showcasing the Rich Diversity of Ghanaian Culture through Performing Arts.” It will highlight Ghana’s cultural heritage through drama, music, and dance, while also encouraging collaboration and growth in the creative industry.

At the launch, Acting Executive Director of the National Theatre, Henry Malm, described the festival as a platform for creative individuals to connect, exchange ideas, and collaborate.

This year’s lineup features George Quaye’s popular play “Run for Your Wife.” The well-known producer and actor also used the occasion to call for stronger government support for the creative arts. He urged organizers to extend the festival to more communities and encouraged deeper partnerships between Ghana and Nigeria, particularly with Nollywood, to strengthen storytelling and the creative industry across West Africa.

Sponsors and partners expressed strong support during the launch. They emphasized that the festival will not only promote Ghana’s cultural identity but also contribute to the growth of the performing arts sector.
