Ghana is set to host the first-ever Talking Drums Festival this December — a landmark hip-hop celebration featuring more than 40 international artists and projected to deliver major economic gains for Accra.
Scheduled for December 29–30, the 48-hour festival is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors from Ghana and abroad, generating substantial revenue for hotels, restaurants, transport operators, and local vendors.

The event aims to position Ghana as a leading hub in the global Afro-diasporic creative economy, aligning with the Black Star Initiative, which strengthens cultural and economic ties between Ghana and the global Black diaspora.
According to Rex Owusu Marfo, Presidential Coordinator for the Black Star Experience, “Ghana’s esteemed reputation as the Culture Capital of Africa makes it the perfect host for this historic event.”
Beyond its immediate impact, the Talking Drums Festival is expected to spark long-term investment in Ghana’s entertainment and creative sectors, while creating new opportunities for local entrepreneurs in music production, event management, and digital media.
If successful, the festival could evolve into an annual international event, further boosting Ghana’s profile as a premier destination for music, culture, and creativity.
