The nominees for the 2025 Ghana Music Awards Europe (GMAEU) were officially announced on July 3 at a glitzy ceremony held at the CLOSAG Hall in Accra.

Organized by the GMAEU team in collaboration with TapTap Send, the star-studded evening brought together a vibrant mix of entertainment industry professionals, traditional leaders, and diplomats. The event, which ran from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, served as a celebration of Ghanaian music excellence at home and in the diaspora.
This year marks the fourth edition of the GMAEU, held under the theme “Celebrating Excellence in Ghanaian Music Beyond Borders.” The awards continue to spotlight the achievements of Ghanaian musicians worldwide and expand recognition across diverse musical genres.

A notable addition to this year’s categories is the Political Campaign Song of the Year, introduced to honour songs that have made a cultural and political impact. Nominees include Akwaboah’s “Asorkorrr”, Nacee’s “Kwen Kwen” and “Asempa No Aba”, Nero X’s “Mahama For 2024”, Eno Barony’s “Bawumia Beba”, and others.
The unveiling ceremony attracted several high-profile attendees, including actress Beverly Afaglo and her husband Choir Master, musicians Keche Andrew and Kwaisey Pee, as well as media personalities AJ Poundz (Onua TV) and Jerry Justice (Adom FM).
In a touching moment, actor and comedian Abraham Davis (Salinko) pledged GH¢20,000 in support of the awards—drawing loud applause from attendees. Other key industry figures such as Prophet Atara, gospel singer Mable Okyere, and Kwesi Ernest of Media Excel were also present. Gideon Aryeequaye, Acting Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency, represented the government.

Diplomatic dignitaries were also in attendance, including Fallou Galass Bakhoum, who represented the Ambassadors of Switzerland, Benin, and Togo.
Several traditional leaders and queen mothers graced the event, adding cultural significance to the occasion. Notable among them were Nana Animah BadeƐ (Omankrado Hemaa of Gomoa Mampong), Nana Akuwa Kwaawa I (Odzikrohemaa), Barima Arkoh-Frempong I (Akyem Kotoku Twafo Saanahene), and Her Royal Highness Naa Adesey Omanyesane III (Divisional Queen Mother of Nungua), among many others from across Ghana.
The 2025 GMAEU will honour excellence across more than 40 award categories, spanning both local and diaspora music scenes.
