Ghana’s creative and performing arts community is brimming with anticipation as the nation confirms its participation in the 2025 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), set for July 15–24 in Long Beach, California.
Dubbed the “Olympics of the Performing Arts,” WCOPA brings together talents from over 60 countries in a vibrant global showcase of culture, talent, and creativity. For Ghana, this presents a unique platform to highlight the country’s dynamic artistic talent on the world stage.
This year’s participation aligns with the Government of Ghana’s Black Star Experience initiative, aimed at promoting the country’s cultural and creative prowess internationally.
A carefully selected team of 10 representatives—including a singer, painter, saxophonist, and the National Director of WCOPA Ghana 2025—will represent Ghana. Their mission is to spotlight Ghana’s rich artistic heritage and leave a lasting impression on global audiences.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has fully endorsed Ghana’s participation, recognizing the opportunity for global exposure and its potential to boost the nation’s creative economy.
“This is not just a contest—it’s a cultural statement,” said a representative of the organising team. “We’re proud to bring Ghana’s artistic brilliance to the international stage.”
The organisers are calling on individuals, corporations, and institutions to support the campaign through funding, resource mobilisation, public awareness, and encouragement for the team.
“This is a defining moment for Ghana’s creative sector. Let’s unite to make it a resounding success,” the statement added.
