The National Theatre of Ghana has strengthened its production capacity following a generous donation of theatre equipment from a German Theatre Group.

The newly donated items—which include stage lighting units, sound systems, and various technical theatre tools—were officially unveiled at a ceremony held at the National Theatre.
This contribution forms part of an ongoing cultural exchange and collaboration initiative between Ghana and Germany, marking another key milestone in the partnership between the National Theatre of Ghana and the German Theatre Group.
The initiative builds on a series of engagements and technical workshops conducted in October and November 2025.
The ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including management and staff of the National Theatre, representatives from the German Theatre Group, and the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah.

The donation is expected to greatly enhance the Theatre’s production capabilities, offering valuable support for training, stagecraft development, and live performances, while further elevating Ghana’s presence on the global theatre stage.
As part of the collaboration, the German team also facilitated a two-week technical training workshop for the National Theatre’s production crew and joined Ghanaian performers for a joint production titled “MOMO”, highlighting the creative synergy between both countries. The unveiling of the new equipment reflects the long-term sustainability of the partnership and the real impact of international cultural cooperation.
In his remarks, the Acting Executive Director of the National Theatre, Mr. Henry Herbert Malm, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the German delegation, describing the donation as a timely boost to Ghana’s creative infrastructure.
Project Lead of the German delegation, Christoph Hans-Erwin Stenftenagel, also thanked the National Theatre for the collaboration, noting the invaluable experience gained by his team. He expressed enthusiasm for future joint projects.
Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah conveyed the government’s appreciation and assured the delegation that the equipment would be used effectively to advance Ghana’s creative sector.
The event highlights the National Theatre’s commitment to building strong international partnerships that support artistic excellence, professional training, and cultural exchange.
