After weeks of anticipation, music lovers and industry stakeholders across the country are eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the nominees for the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) this Saturday, March 15, 2025.
The official announcement will be broadcast live on TV3 and streamed across the Ghana Music Awards’ official social media platforms, giving fans the chance to witness which artistes and groups have secured a spot on this year’s prestigious nominees list.
The journey to the 2025 TGMA began on January 21, 2025, when the call for nominations was officially opened. Artistes and music groups were invited to submit their works released between January 1 and December 31, 2024, for consideration. The nomination window closed on February 16, 2025.
According to Charterhouse, organisers of the awards, this year’s response was overwhelming, with over 1,500 entries received from more than 130 artistes and music groups across various genres.
Once nominations closed, a panel of industry experts, including renowned musicians, producers, and key stakeholders, meticulously reviewed and vetted each submission. The process was guided by clearly defined criteria to ensure that only the most outstanding and deserving candidates made the final list.
The final nominees’ list was approved by the TGMA board and other industry leaders, ensuring a transparent and credible selection process.
Spotlight on the Big 5 Categories
While all categories are significant, the Big 5 categories often take center stage, generating major discussions and excitement among fans. These top categories, which recognize the highest achievements in the Ghanaian music industry, will be revealed live during the announcement ceremony.
They include:
- Record of the Year
- Album of the Year
- Telecel Most Popular Song of the Year
- New Artiste of the Year
- Artiste of the Year
