Telecel Ghana Presents Epixode with Music for Good Award at 26th TGMA

Telecel Ghana Honours Epixode with Music for Good Award at 26th TGMAs.

At the 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), reggae-dancehall artiste Epixode was honoured with the prestigious Music for Good Award, recognising his powerful advocacy against illegal mining (galamsey) and its environmental impact through his song “Chooboi.”

Presented by Telecel Ghana, the award celebrates artists who use their platforms for social change. Epixode received a plaque along with a GH¢20,000 cash prize, applauding his role in raising awareness about the environmental degradation caused by galamsey in mining communities — including the destruction of forests, pollution of rivers, and threats to livelihoods.

The Music for Good Award, formerly known as the Green Award, recognises musicians whose work promotes causes such as environmental conservation, education, health, youth empowerment, and community development.

Presenting the award, Telecel Ghana CEO Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai commended musicians who leverage their craft to champion meaningful causes.
“Each year, we are proud to acknowledge artistes who go beyond entertainment to create real impact. I urge all creatives to use their influence to speak on issues that truly matter,” she said.

In a video message, Epixode expressed his appreciation to Telecel Ghana and encouraged fellow artists to use their music for transformation, not just entertainment.

“Music should stir the conscience, spark hope, and challenge injustice. Let’s use our voices to end galamsey now,” he said.

Past recipients of the award include Eugene Zuta (2024) for anti-human trafficking advocacy, Worlasi (2023) for his “Giving Shade” tree-planting campaign, and Stonebwoy (2022) for “Greedy Men”, addressing issues like corruption, illegal mining, and child labour.

Now in its 26th year, the TGMAs continues to stand as Ghana’s most prestigious music award platform, honouring excellence across genres.
