Actress and fashion icon Zynnell Zuh has challenged the stereotype that showbiz is a domain for those lacking academic brilliance or viewed as a fallback for individuals who have failed in other aspects of life. She considers this perception unfair, as many in the industry are simply pursuing their passions and interests.
Zynnell, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Information Studies from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Mountcrest University College, and most recently, a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from BPP University in the UK, believes such assumptions undermine the intelligence and capabilities of creatives.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the Gold Coast Lounge actress noted that her academic accomplishments clearly refute the notion that entertainers lack intelligence.
“The idea that people in showbiz aren’t intelligent is a stereotype I strongly oppose,” Zynnell stated. “Balancing creativity, business, and strategy requires a high level of intelligence and adaptability. Many creatives are well-educated and leverage their platforms to make meaningful societal contributions. It’s time to challenge this misconception and celebrate the diverse talents within the industry.”
With her new legal qualification, Zynnell plans to venture into commercial and entertainment law, focusing on managing the legal aspects of her film production company, fashion business, and charity foundation.
“Earning my Master of Laws degree from BPP University is a significant milestone that aligns my legal knowledge with my creative pursuits,” she shared. “My goal is to specialise in entertainment and commercial law while enhancing my businesses and philanthropic efforts.”
Zynnell sees this next phase as an opportunity to create even greater value for her audience. “Whether through thought-provoking films, empowering fashion pieces, or impactful charity initiatives, I aim to embrace all facets of my career cohesively,” she explained. “This degree equips me to deepen my contributions to creative industries and explore new opportunities.”
Looking ahead, Zynnell also plans to expand her fashion brand into ready-to-wear collections and elevate her film production company with exciting new projects. Her journey exemplifies the integration of creativity, business, and philanthropy, proving that entertainers are anything but lacking in intelligence or ambition.
