Black Sherif releases his much-anticipated sophomore album, Iron Boy

Following the massive success of his debut album The Villain I Never Was, Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif is back with his highly anticipated sophomore album, Iron Boy.

Set to captivate audiences worldwide, Iron Boy, named after a tribute to Highlife legend Amakye Dede from his hometown, highlights Black Sherif’s signature storytelling, musical versatility, and bold exploration of themes that deeply resonate with fans across the globe.

The album features 15 tracks that showcase a mix of genres, including Highlife, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, and soul-stirring melodies. Iron Boy solidifies Black Sherif’s place as one of Africa’s most powerful voices, offering a sonic blend that positions him as an unstoppable force in the music scene.

Following the release of two captivating trailers for Iron Boy, directed by Ghanaian creative powerhouse David Nicol Sey of North Productions, anticipation is at an all-time high. Fans around the world eagerly await an album that not only redefines Black Sherif’s artistry but also leaves an unforgettable mark on the global music scene.

In support of Iron Boy, Black Sherif is set to kick off his headlining US tour tomorrow in Washington, D.C. The tour will include sold-out shows in New York, Los Angeles, and more before heading to Europe in May.

Born Mohammed Ismail Sharif Kwaku Frimpong in Konongo, a small town in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, Black Sherif has overcome all odds to become the country’s biggest star. With his diverse musical style blending Afrobeats, Highlife, and Ghanaian drill, he has become known for his wordplay, storytelling, and linguistic versatility. His breakout success with First Sermon and Second Sermon in 2021 catapulted him onto the international stage, and his hit single Kwaku The Traveller earned him global recognition in 2022.

Black Sherif’s global influence continues to expand. In 2024, he was named to Rolling Stone’s Future 25, performed at SXSW for Rolling Stone Live, and was featured in an exclusive profile discussing African music’s diversity. He has graced the stages of major festivals like Afro Nation Miami, Pharrell’s Something in the Water, and Wireless Festival UK. His debut headlining concert at New York’s Palladium Times Square marked a significant milestone, while his work has earned recognition from NPR, The Fader, Complex, and The New York Times.
