Ghanaian artist Amerado, also known as Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, recently explained his decision to turn down a collaboration with legendary singer Barima Sidney. During an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, Amerado stated that his decision to work on tracks is heavily influenced by his inspiration. He mentioned that even though he appreciated the song that Barima Sidney sent him, he didn’t feel confident in his ability to perform well on it.
“Barima Sidney sent me a song, I loved it. I spoke with my team that I thought the song was not one that I could really deliver well on, so I requested for a remix of one of his monster hits, but that couldn’t happen too,” he shared.
The singer known for “Kweku Ananse” stressed that if he lacks inspiration, he chooses not to do collaborations. He mentioned that he promptly agreed to create a remix for Joyce Blessing’s latest song “Overdo” because he felt a strong connection to it
He also expressed respect for Barima Sidney, stating, “I’ve seen a couple of interviews that the legendary Barima Sidney has been talking about the fact that I ignored a feature. He should take it easy on me because who wouldn’t want to work with Sidney, but some time maybe we will work on a song that I can really deliver on.”
