Agya Koo Nimo has openly expressed his deep admiration for dancehall star Shatta Wale, citing the artist’s authenticity and tireless work ethic. Speaking fondly of the Kakai hitmaker during an interview with Kafui Dey, the legendary highlife musician said:
“Shatta Wale—I’ve never met him, but I like him. He dares to be different, and I admire that. I love him because he’s genuine and hardworking. He says it like it is.”
Agya Koo Nimo revealed his heartfelt desire to one day meet Shatta Wale, adding, “I’ve even been thinking of inviting him over. Tell him I just want to hold his hand, because I love him.”
That dream moved a step closer to reality during a touching phone call between the two artists. Agya Koo Nimo, now in a wheelchair, shared an emotional message:
“I’m glad I’ve had the chance to speak with you. There’s one thing I want you to know—I love you. I love everything you do. God bless you. Before I die, I want to perform with you.”
Shatta Wale, deeply moved by the call, responded with gratitude and pledged to honour the elder’s request.
“After this call, I’ll definitely make plans to visit you. I want to thank you for paving the way for us young musicians. We truly respect the legacy you’ve built,” he said.
