The Afro International Music Festival 2026 has officially been launched at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum in Accra, marking a major milestone in the celebration of African culture. The event, which is set to showcase an eclectic mix of both local and international talent, was introduced with the aim of promoting African music, art, and creativity on a global stage.

The ceremony, hosted by Trigmatic, a renowned musician and entrepreneur, saw prominent figures from the creative industry in attendance. Notably, James Gardiner, the Deputy Executive Director of the National Film Authority (NFA), delivered the keynote address, speaking about the growing significance of music festivals in promoting cultural exchange and economic growth.
In his address, Kelvin Amuzu, the newly appointed CEO of the festival, expressed his excitement about leading the initiative. He emphasized his commitment to making the Afro International Music Festival 2026 a premier platform for showcasing African talent and creativity. “This festival is not only a celebration of music but a commitment to elevating African culture globally,” he stated.

The 2026 edition promises to be even more thrilling than its predecessors, with a wide range of performers, including both established stars and emerging artists. Last year’s festival, held from August 9-11, featured performances from Efe Grace, Sarfo Newman, Kwame Yesu, and Kimilist, along with up-and-coming artists like Riycon and Sobolo Song.
Beyond the music, the festival will offer a variety of activities, such as dance competitions, outdoor games, and fun events, keeping the energy high for all attendees. DJs like DJ Justice and MC Sanke played a key role in keeping the crowd engaged with a mix of Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, and Dancehall tracks.
The 2026 festival is poised to attract even more visitors and become a cornerstone of African cultural tourism, offering a unique blend of entertainment, education, and empowerment.
